SPECIFIC RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR ON-AIR CONDUCT.
In order to participate in WPEB 88.1FM on air operators must have successfully completed studio training, and have received the approval of the WPEB 88.1FM Program Committee Chairs and the Programming Committee. He/she must be knowledgeable about- and comply with- all FCC rules and regulations that apply to WPEB 88.1FM.
The Federal Communications Commission(FCC) is an independent federal agency created to regulate broadcast and non broadcast spectrum use.
OBSCENITY, PROFANITY AND INDECENCY
The (FCC) bans the broadcast of obscene materials at all times. Material is considered obscene if it appeals to the prurient interest, depicts or describes sexual conduct in terms that are obviously offensive and taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic or political value. Although this may seem subjective it is the policy of WPEB 88.1FM strictly adhere to the policies of the FCC.
WPEB 88.1FM policy stipulates that on air operators may not use offensive language and they shall not allow their on-air guests or callers to use offensive language or hate speech on the air. Upon the first occurrence the on air operator shall give the in studio guests/ callers an immediate warning. Upon the second occurrence the WPEB 88.1FM on air operator shall turn off the microphone/disconnect the caller which ever is appropriate. The operator should go to the play list until a decision can be made about further programming.
The Chairs of the Programming Committee, Station Manager and the Programming Committee of WPEB 88.1FM shall review in advance prerecorded material submitted to the station. Pre-recorded offensive material may actually be illegal in many instances and time frames and inappropriate for this radio station.

Individuals who violate any part of this policy will be subject to disciplinary action.Flagrant violations may, in the judgment of the committee,be grounds for immediate dismissal from an on air position.
The (FCC) bans the broadcast of indecent material between 6a.m &10p.m
Material is indecent if it contains language or material that, in context, depicts or describes, in terms patently offensive as measured by contemporary community standards for the broadcast medium,sexual or excretory activities or organs.
PERSONAL ATTACKS
WPEB 88.1FM On-air operators should avoid any personal attacks. The FCC's rule on personal attack is: if a broadcaster attacks the "honesty,character; or integrity" of an identified person or group while discussing a controversial issue of public importance, then the broadcaster must contact that person or group within a week and provide them with a tape of the program or a accurate summary of the attack. Also the WPEB 88.1FM operator must offer a reasonable opportunity to respond over the same station.
WPEB 88.1FM On-air operators must not defame individuals. WPEB 88.1FM holds personally liable any on-air operator who defames(as defined by law) an individual.Libility includes, but is not limited to, any related expenses, charges, or fines.WPEB 88.1FM will pursue legal remedies.
